Put Your Worries Into Perspective
When thoughts are spinning through your head, it is hard to put the concerns in perspective. Often, when we worry, we tend to think about the worst-case scenario, even if the worst thing imaginable is far from the realistic outcome of the situation. Choose one thing that’s on your mind (for example, “I’ll probably wake up again in the middle of the night and can’t sleep past 4.30 am”). Then answer briefly to the following questions:
What’s the worst thing that could happen?
What’s the best possible outcome of the situation?
What is the most probable outcome?
If the worst is to happen, how would I get past it, going forward?
